She is named BENTEN too. She is a goddess of luck in Japan, and exists by oneself about "SHICHIFUKU-JIN" (Seven gods of good fortune). However, when the couple is seen, she envies it because she seems to be single. As a result, she might have the couple separate the friend. (Though it is thought a legend or rumor..........)
She was a goddess named "Sarasvati" in Hinduism.
